I had the Bible all wrong
Catholicism… for the Everyday Atheist.
Sure, I grew up in the Catholic Church, but I didn’t know God, nor did I have any idea of what was in the Bible.
Wasn’t it just a book of old words that may or may not have been written by God? Perhaps it was just a book used by organized religion to control the masses, filled with man-made rules that couldn’t have possibly been sanctioned by an all-loving God?
This, I’m sure, is how many atheists think of it. It was how I thought of it at one point in my life… but that was until I grew a curiosity.
Now that I’m halfway through reading it for the first time, here is my perspective:
You should read it — not necessarily to become a God-fearing follower or to convert to the faith, but to read it for its intended purpose: to learn the philosophy to a full and healthy life.
